So. I finished up a series of the first pots made on the new plaster hump molds. I’m enjoying handbuilding these days and find the endless possibilities exciting. The forms that come off the molds are just the beginning, then feet handles, rims, side walls, etc can be added with coils or slabs. I am making a series of qin hua (chinese underglaze blue) serving dishes and platters with flowers, birds, leaves, and the occasional fish. More animals will be entering the scene soon! I’m posting a series of photos showing the assembling of large oval platters using plaster molds and extruded elements for feet and rims. More photos to come as they are finished!
Otherwise – we’re still getting new snow most every day!! Shoveled another 6-10″ yesterday morning, and expecting more everyday this week. I’m sure we’re over ten feet for the season, at least.
